Pakistan & Azerbaijan to hold Joint Military Drills

After Russia, Azerbaijan also to hold joint military drills and exercises with Pakistan. President Ilham Aliyev stated it during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is on a three-day visit in the country. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif stressed upon building strong economic and investment ties between the two countries. Earlier, PM Nawaz Sharif was being accorded with a warm formal welcome when he arrived at the presidential palace to discuss a wide range of bilateral matters with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

After PM Nawaz Sharif’s arrival at Zagulba Palace, in a one-to-one meeting followed by delegation level talks, he expressed his desires to further escalate the bonds of friendship with Azerbaijan and to make them even stronger into new forms of trade, investment and defence. While speaking to media, President Ilham Aliyev said that Pakistan is our close friend and ally and both the countries support each other at international forums. Cooperation between the two nations to remain continued, he added. During a joint press briefing, President of Azerbaijan also showed his willingness to sign a deal with Pakistan for buying defence equipment.

Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan is concerned towards vast regional connectivity through shared prosperity and is also sharing stronger inter-connections with all the Central Asian Republics (CARs). Both the sides also discussed several international issues, including South Asian situation particularly of Indian Occupied Kashmir. Our willingness to resolve this issue in a peaceful way shouldn’t be considered as our weakness, Sharif said, whereas, President Ilham Aliyev also supported Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also praised the progress and socio-economic development of Azerbaijan under the dynamic and strong leadership of Ilham Aliyev.
