Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged India to show seriousness for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue as it has been the prime reason behind the ongoing tensions in the region, particularly between India and Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan would definitely support India’s gesture if India expresses concerns towards the resolution of Kashmir issue.
Pakistan has always wanted to resume peace talks with India on all outstanding matters but its been unfortunate that India has never responded positively, he added. Nawaz Sharif before leaving to Pakistan had an informal meeting with the media representatives in Azerbaijan. During the meeting he said that it was completely unacceptable that India was in rush to blame Pakistan for Uri Attacks, that too after just 6 hours.
Regarding to Indian claims of Surgical Strikes at Line of Control (LoC), Nawaz Sharif clarified it too that no such incident has ever happened inside Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. It was only an exchange of small arms and nothing else, he said.
PM Nawaz Sharif also spoke on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s call to shut down Islamabad. Prime Minister said that they won’t let that happen and Islamabad will remain open. He also denied the circulating news that work on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has slowed down. The Prime Minister said that he had been asked to raise the prices of gas but he would refrain from doing so.
Nawaz Sharif met with the president of Azerbaijan earlier on Friday to discuss regional security and trade matters. It was also decided that Azerbaijan and Pakistan will conduct joint military exercises.
