Imran Khan calls for countrywide protests

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan has now called for countrywide protests from tomorrow. The decision has been taken when Islamabad Police personnel arrested and beaten the male and female workers of PTI when they were attending PTI Youth Convention in a private marquee. A large number of police contingent arrived the spot and unleashed baton-charge indiscriminately hurting unarmed women, men and media representatives as well.

PTI’s Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said in a presser that this is the worst kind of dictatorship as PTI workers were not doing any unlawful activity and were only attending party’s Youth Convention. He also questioned the legality of the crackdown from Islamabad Police and asked that under which law, PTI’s women and young guys have been arrested. Shah Mehmood Qureshi further said that now no one can stop them in getting rid of Nawaz Sharif’s dictatorship. He also demanded the release of PTI workers immediately.

Earlier today, Islamabad High Court ordered PTI not to shutdown the Federal Capital during 2nd Nov sit-in. During the hearing of petitions seeking to prevent PTI’s plan from locking down Islamabad, IHC issued orders that Islamabad will remain open on 2nd Nov, no containers will be placed in the city and roads will not be blocked. IHC further said that no exams in the city will be rescheduled and all educational institutions to remain open on 2nd Nov.

The court directed the District Magistrate to allocate a proper venue for PTI’s sit-in and also ordered the CDA and District Administration to provide proper facilities for sit-in participants. IHC Judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui gave the remarks during the hearing that it should be known to everyone that there are only courts that are umpires in every situation. IHC also summoned Imran Khan on 31st Oct.

In response to Islamabad High Court’s decision, Chairman PTI Imran Khan challenged the decision barring him from blocking the Federal Capital and said that no power can stop him from holding a sit-in protest on 2nd Nov. In a press conference outside his Bani Gala residence, Imran Khan said that his moral is getting higher day by day by government’s various tactics to stop him. 2nd Nov plans will be historic and decisive and government’s attempt to stop PTI from shutting down Islamabad will only spread further chaos, he added. Imran Khan also said that he will challenge the Islamabad High Court’s decision in Supreme Court.

Federal Minister for Railways and PMLN Leader Khawaja Saad Rafique reacted and said that after disrespecting Apex Court, Imran Khan has become a culprit of Contempt of Court. While addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Saad Rafique lashed out against Imran Khan and his upcoming Islamabad March. He said that Imran Khan is on someone other’s agenda, only enemies shut down the cities and Imran Khan is an enemy of Pakistan.

In the meantime, District Administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have imposed Section-144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in twin cities, banning the public gatherings and displaying of weapons. As per notification, gathering of 4 or more people and rallies would be banned. The notification comes ahead of sit-in that PTI has planned for 2nd Nov Islamabad Shutdown.
