Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed Federal Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage Minister Pervez Rasheed to resign from his ministry. The surprising news broke three weeks after Core Commanders termed the fabricated news story as “National Security Breach”. As per government’s statement, the ministry has been taken back from Pervez Rasheed until the investigations of Dawn Newspaper’s story are completed.
The statement further quoted that the available evidence has pointed out the negligence of information minister. An inquiry committee, comprising of senior officials of ISI, MI & IB has been constituted to further probe the planted story. The inquiry committee will find out the pros and cons of the controversial story and other hidden interests involved in it.
Earlier, senior leaders of PMLN were called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif. Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif met General Raheel Sharif at the Army House. Government’s delegation briefed COAS about the progress in investigation and recommendations related to planted story of National Security Breach of 6th Oct 2016.
It is to be mentioned that English Newspaper Dawn published the story in which journalist Cyril Almeida had elaborated about an alleged civilian and military rift over the issue of tackling militant groups during the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting. The story brought high level criticism into limelight and military straight away demanded investigations into it by stating that the story was wed to the reporter.

2. We demand the trail of the breach be traced to its origins and relevant mbr of ruling "royal" family must be held responsible.— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) October 29, 2016
Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has also expressed his concerns following the recent development and congratulated the nation on the other end as well. In his tweet, Imran Khan said that government itself has been found complicit and involved in planting of fabricated story. He said that sacking one minister is yet not enough, the mindset behind all this controversy should be traced down to its origins and relevant ruling royal family must be held accountable and responsible. The rest of ministers are also trembling, he added.
