COAS visits his Alma Mater, Government College University (GCU), Lahore

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited his Alma Mater, Government College University (GCU), Lahore and interacted with the faculty members and students. To revive his old memories, General Raheel Sharif also visited various sections and departments of his university where he had spent several years as a student.

During his address to the staff and students, General Raheel Sharif paid rich tributes to both the faculty members and management of the university for their pivotal role towards the grooming of youth. COAS said that GCU has played extremely important role in polishing and producing a stream of scholars, scientists, artists and intellectuals of international acclaim, who have contributed a lot in their respective domains.

The Army Chief said that Pakistanis are a great nation and our human resource is actually our real asset. He also expressed optimism for the bright future of the country and said that Pakistani youth must play a key role in taking Pakistan to new heights. He emphasized on the youth to strive for honour and dignity through hard work and faith in Allah and to always focus on 3 Cs (Character, Courage & Competence).

Talking about Operation Zarb-e-Azab, the most critical offensives in which our security forces have ever been engaged, General Raheel Sharif said that many of terror-hit areas particularly in tribal belt and North Waziristan have been cleared of terrorists and normal life is returning back to these areas. COAS told during his address that Operation Zarb-e-Azab has ensured peace in the region and laid a strong foundation for prosperity and progress of the country.

Upon his arrival at Government College University, Lahore, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif received a warm welcome from College’s staff and students. The students were seen to have been chanting slogans of “Raheel Sharif Zindabad” (Long Live Raheel Sharif).
