All of the dead bodies of Flight PK-661 have been brought to PIMS Hospital in Islamabad for DNA testing. 23 dead bodies were shifted in first phase and now 24 dead bodies have been shifted to Islamabad.
Yesterday a PIA Plane carrying 47 people crashed in a hilly area of Havelian near Abbottabad killing everyone on board. The plane took off from Chitral at 3:50 PM in evening and was expected to reach Islamabad within one and a half hour, but the plane crashed at 4:42 PM in Havelian, KPK.
Pakistan National Icon and famous religious preacher Junaid Jamshed was also on board along with his wife. DCO Chitral Usama Warraich, his wife and two months old daughter also lost their lives in plane crash. As per official statement, no one could survive in the tragedy.
The remains of the victims have been shifted to PIMS Hospital for DNA Testing via Army Helicopters where families of victims have gathered. Help Desks have also been established by respective authorities to assist the victims’ families.
State Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhary while talking to media at PIMS said that DNA sampling will take about six to eight days to get the process done. After the completion of DNA sampling, only then the dead bodies would be handled over to families, he added. He also told that so far the remains of singer turned preacher Junaid Jamshed have not been identified yet.
An official from Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad earlier said that no one was intact and only six bodies were identified, rests of them were not in a position to be identified. The bodies were burnt so badly that it was not possible for them to recognize. The only possible way for their identification is DNA testing, he added.
The Investigative Teams from CAA and PIA have also visited the spot to gather the relevant evidence. Authorities have also found the Black Box from the crash site and gave it to the team led by Air Commodore Munir Butt. A PIA official has also said that the wreckage and debris of aircraft will be transported to Karachi or Islamabad for detailed investigation under the light of those investigations which are to be made after decoding Black Box.
Junaid Jamshed’s untimely and sudden death in such a tragic manner has also made every Pakistani heart sink when they heard that he is no more with us. Former musician turned religious preacher and Naat-Khuaan was in Chitral for preaching and was coming back with his wife but instead of landing in Islamabad, he moved to other world.
People of Pakistan from every walk of life are expressing deep sorrow and grief over the death of national icon. Citizens in various cities are also holding candles in the memory of victims of plane crash. Junaid Jamshed’s brother was the first one who had confirmed about Junaid Jamshed boarding the ill-fated flight. Religious scholars, actors and other social activists have gathered outside the home of Junaid Jamshed in Karachi to express their condolences to his family members.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has termed the air crash as national tragedy and directed the respective authorities to ensure complete support and assistance to victims’ families. Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has also expressed deep grief over the loss of precious lives in the tragic incident.
