Amidst Tears & Tributes; Junaid Jamshed Laid to Rest

Famous religious personality and Islamic scholar Junaid Jamshed’s has been laid to rest in Darul-Uloom, Korangi, Karachi in the presence of millions of people who had gathered to pay final tribute to Junaid Jamshed. Amid tears, Junaid Jamshed’s journey to the world hereafter begins but his voice will always remain alive in the hearts of people.

Only selective people were allowed to come at grave for Junaid Jamshed’s burial in Darul-Uloom due to accommodation scenarios. At the occasion, Taimur Jamshed, son of Junaid Jamshed and his brother Humanyun Jamshed were seen breaking down into tears. Famous religious cleric Maulana Tariq Jameel and other religious personalities, cricketers Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar, Muhammad Yousuf and Muhammad Hafeez were also there during the burial of Junaid Jamshed.

Earlier, Junaid Jamshed’s coffin being wrapped in national flag was brought at DHA’s AKD ground for funeral prayers. Maulana Tariq Jameel led the funeral prayers which were attended by millions of Junaid Jamshed’s fans and followers. People belonging from different walks of life; politicians, cricketers, film stars, singers, media persons and civil society members, including Dr. Farooq Sattar, Muhammad Yousuf, Muhammad Hafeez, Faakhir, Saud and Aijaz Aslam attended the funeral procession.

Before the funeral prayers, Maulana Tariq Jameel who actually made Junaid Jamshed to devote himself for Allah and Islam, also addressed the people came for funeral prayers and gave the eye-opening sermon. He said that he has never seen such a huge funeral procession, even kings never get such kind of send-offs. At the occasion, security personnel of Law Enforcement Agencies were deployed in the surrounding areas to ensure foolproof security measures to funeral procession.

Junaid Jamshed along with 46 other passengers died on 7th December when PIA’s Flight PK-661 crashed into a hillside in Havelian near Abbottabad making the incident a newest episode in the country’s disappointing history of aviation disasters. After almost five long and painful days, Junaid Jamshed’s body was finally identified earlier this week on Monday with the help of facial x-rays and his dental history, since all the bodies of crash victims were unrecognizable and DNA testing was only option left for identification.
