Former President of Pakistan and Co-Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari has finally returned to Pakistan from the United Arab Emirates, ending his self-imposed exile that consisted for year and a half.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, former Prime Ministers Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Qaira and Nisar Khoro welcomed Asif Zardari at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.
Former President’s flight arrived at the old terminal where preparations were ready and all set for Zardari’s address in the presence of thousands of party workers who gathered to welcome him back.
While addressing the party workers, former president said that the crowd reminded him of the day when he was sent to Lahore by Benazir Bhutto and the way he was welcomed. He feels that today Benazir Bhutto and Zulfiqar Bhutto are still with them, he added.
The former president once again ensured that they would not let democracy to derail. He emphasized the importance of democracy and stated it does not matter who os in power as there will come a day when the public’s voice will lead the country.
On China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Zardari said that now it’s the perfect time for China and Pakistan to prosper and CPEC will surely benefit the next generation. He also stated that despite conspiracies and issues, he remained strong.
Asif Ali Zardari said that whenever he goes abroad, people start linking new stories with him, but now he is with the people of Pakistan and came back to do right politics. Former president also said that they will bring revolution in Parliament for the sake of democracy. In the end of his address, Zardari said that PPP will once again come into power with further adding that he would talk about other several matters on 27th Dec.
Zardari had been living in Dubai since June 2015 and PPP believes that Zardari’s return to Pakistan would boost up the moral of PPP’s politics and will give it a new direction. PPP leaders think that with Zardari’s experience, the politics of opposition would become further stronger.
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed that he is glad that Asif Ali Zardari is returning to the country. He was speaking to journalists during his visit to Bosnia, where he said that he is very happy that Zardari is coming back to Pakistan with adding that the former president would keep his party’s control in his own hands. On 20th Nov 20, former president Asif Zardari in an interview stated that he is not in exile and would come back to Pakistan soon in a couple of weeks.
Federal Minister for Railways and PMLN leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has also welcomed Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari on his return to Pakistan after 18 months this afternoon, but said that that Zardari needs to teach Bilawal Bhutto Zardari some etiquette as well.
Talking in a ceremony in Lahore, Saad Rafique referred to Bilawal as young leaders and younger brother and said that those who have grown up with stolen money and talk about corruption completely looks weird. When Bilawal points a single finger on others, rests of his fingers are pointed towards himself, Rafique added. He also said some elements are trying to raise political temperature of the country but PMLN under Nawaz Sharif will succeed in 2018 General Elections as well.
