Jinnah’s Birth Anniversary being celebrated nationwide

The 141st birth anniversary of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is being celebrated today with national zeal throughout the country. The national flag is hoisted at top of all public and private buildings on this public holiday. The day dawned with the recitation of the Holy Quran at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam in Karachi.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his message said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah united the scattered Muslims of sub-continent under a single flag through his devoted struggle and finally got successful in getting an independent homeland for the Muslims of sub-continent.

Because of his exemplary character and exceptional leadership qualities, Quaid-e-Azam has become a source of inspiration and guidance for the people of this nation and nation remembers the founder with admiration and utmost reverence, PM added.

Nawaz Sharif further said that the nation must follow the principles of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, reaffirm faith in his teaching and forge the unity in their ranks to defeat the powers of extremism and uphold the principles of democracy, peaceful coexistence and rule of law.

Change of Guard Ceremony was also held at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam (Mazar-e-Quaid) in Karachi, where cadets of Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul took the charge of guard duty. Chief Guest on the occasion, Commandant PMA Kakul Major General Abdullah Dogar also laid floral wreath at the mausoleum and offered Fateha as well.

The federal government has already announced a week long celebrations from 19th to 25th Dec in connection with the birth anniversary of the founding father. The purpose of these celebrations was to educate the youth about the vision of Quad-e-Azam and ideology of Pakistan. Several events, including seminars, debates, exhibitions and shows of performing arts were held to highlight the key features of the personality and teachings of the father of nation.

The grand ceremony in this regard was held at Liaquat Gymnasium Sports Complex, Islamabad. Apart from highlighting the efforts of Quaid-e-Azam in achieving a separate homeland, various aspects of Pakistani culture and traditions were also brought into limelight.

The sacrifices made by the soldiers and people of Pakistan in war against terrorism were also highlighted through performing arts’ shows and patriotic songs. The event was being organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and was attended by a large number of school children.

At the end, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting also addressed the participants and said that Pakistanis need to follow the footsteps of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to make Pakistan even better and greater than before. She also said all the institutions need to work together with mutual cooperation so that our country could progress more rapidly.
