The 31st Governor of Sindh, Justice (r) Saeed Uz Zaman Siddiqui passes away on January 11th 2017, two months into his governance. Justice Siddiqui was the Chief Justice of Pakistan from July 1999 to January 2000. Justice Siddiqui had been continuously ill ever since he had taken oath in November 2016 and had been attending to the affairs of the Governor from his bed.
Justice Siddiqui had stepped down as Chief Justice of Pakistan under the military regime of General Pervez Musharraf, he had said that he deemed it against the 1973 constitution that he had vowed to protect, to continue serving under the PCO. Justice Siddiqui was 78 at his time of death, having dealt with multiple kidney and lungs related problems.
