Atleast 25 people lost their lives and more than 40 got injured in a result of explosion at a crowded market in Kurram Tribal Agency’s city of Parachinar. Injured people in the attack were immediately rescued and taken to the District Headquarters Hospital. Ten victims of the attack in critical condition were transferred to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar by Pakistan Army.
Director General ISPR, Major General Asif Ghafoor stated that the blast was carried out through an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at city’s Eidgah Market around 8:50 AM after which Pakistan Army cordoned off the area. Helicopters of Paksitan Army shifted the wounded persons to hospital for treatment.
COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa also issued directives for quick evacuation and best medical care to the victims. He said that terrorists will fail in their attempt to regain lost relevance. Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. General Nazir Ahmad Butt also visited CMH Peshawar and inquired about the health of the blast injured.

Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has demanded an inquiry report over the incident and ensured to hold the responsible ones accountable. Parachinar is Kurram’s Agency Administrative Headquarters and is located closely to Pak-Afghan Border being considered as the main route for cross-border militant activities. The city has also observed such terrorist incidents in the past as well.
Political Leadership Condemns the Attack
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep grief over the loss of precious and innocent lives in the terrorist incident. He directed urgent and quick medical facilities to the injured ones and also condoled with families who lost their loved ones in the attack. Chairman PTI Imran Khan also condemned the blast in Parachinar targeting innocent civilians strongly and also demanded strengthening of intelligence and security for public places.

Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemning the Parachinar blast said that they stand with the families who lost their beloved ones. Former president Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the terrorist attack and said that the nurseries of terrorists have to be destroyed as soon as possible. Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Siraj-ul-Haq condemned the incident and prayed for the recovery of the injured ones.
