Hearing of Panama Leaks Case resumed today and five-member larger bench of Supreme Court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa sought details of the distribution of Mian Muhammad Sharif’s property.
On behalf of Maryam Nawaz and Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Safdar, their counsel Shahid Hamid also appeared before the court, continued with his arguments and claimed that there was no dispute in the Sharif family over the matter of property. The bench questioned that in that case, why Maryam Nawaz never mentioned her being the trustee in a television-interview?
He added that Captain Safdar had submitted statements of Maryam Nawaz along with the nomination papers in the Election Commission and that there was no question of any disqualification because tax returns were not filed. Earlier, Shahid Hamid submitted Maryam Nawaz’s reply once again in the court with her signatures.
The court also brought an email of Maryam Nawaz into limelight in which she admitted in 2004 that she was the beneficiary owner of two offshore companies, Nielsen and Nescol. The court asked that should they confirm her signatures or not as documents are revealing everything.
Shahid Hamid replied that the court can assess Maryam Nawaz’s signatures as these documents on her name contain fake signatures. The top court later adjourned the hearing of the Panama Leaks Case until Thursday where Shahid Hamid would continue his arguments before the court from where he has left today.
