Provincial Government of Punjab has finally decided to launch Rangers Operation against banned terrorist outfits, other militants and their facilitators across the province. The decision has been taken during the Apex Committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, after which a summary has been prepared to grant powers and authorities to rangers to proceed with the operation.
The decision to launch Rangers Operation has been taken by Punjab Government after having consultation with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the final notification will be issued after Nawaz Sharif’s final word. The targeted operations will be launched by Paramilitary Force in different areas of Punjab and the Provincial Administration will also be taken into confidence as a prerequisite move.
During the Apex Committee meeting, the concern was also raised over the involvement of Afghanistan based terrorist network in Lahore blast and usage of Afghan soil for executing terrorist activities within Pakistan from across the border as well. The Apex Committee was also briefed about the identification of terrorist network and arrest of facilitators of Lahore Blast.
Earlier, CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif met with Corps Commander Lahore Lt. General Sadiq Ali and paid tribute to the soldiers who died in the line of duty. CM and Corps Commander paid rich tributes to the Soldiers and Police Officers who sacrificed their lives in the War against Terrorism.
During the meeting, the both of them strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in the country. Speaking on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that our Armed Forces are fully capable to deal with all types of challenges and those who have sacrificed their today for our tomorrow in this war are national heroes.
In the meanwhile, the Sindh Home Department has imposed Section-144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the city for 15 days with immediate effect. The decision has been taken to ensure the security of people in wake of looming terrorist threats after the recent wave of terrorism. On the other end, Federal Interior Ministry has also decided to form a special force for Judges’ Security in wake of ongoing security situation in the country.
Earlier, Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah while talking to media in Sukkur has said that the Suicide Attack at the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan should be considered an International Tragedy. He further said that there are elements which want to destabilize the country, that’s why proper execution and implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism in necessary to maintain peace.
Bilawal Zardari also visited a hospital in Nawabshah to meet the injured victims of Sehwan Blast. Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) expressed deep grief over the loss of precious and innocent lives in the Sehwan tragedy and said that heart-wrenching and coward attack was an attack on the Culture of Sindh.
While talking to media, Bilawal bashed Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan for failing to implement NAP and once again reiterated his demand that the parliamentary body on national security should be restored. Bilawal also called for renewed and concerted efforts between the Provisional and Federal Governments against terrorism.
