Since the start of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have been hunting terrorists all over the country and killed many of the terrorists and apprehended them as well in large numbers.
Six terrorists of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) have been killed today in an encounter with the Counter-Terrorism Force (CTF) in Muzaffargarh. The operation was carried out near PT Link Canal in the Pati Sultan Mahmood area of the city to apprehend a terrorist belonging to the banned militant outfit, (LeJ).
Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies have also saved Peshawar from an attack when they intercepted a terrorist who was carrying explosives. The Counter-Terrorism Department personnel arrested him near the Ring Road from Achini Khor this morning.
After his arrest, he was being shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation. Raid and Search Operations are common in Peshawar but since some time, the security measures have been beefed up following the blasts in the city and in adjoining Tribal Areas.
Apart from that, Security Forces have also carried out an operation on intelligence reports regarding to the presence of the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar’s Wahab Zakhbeel Group in the area of Lora Lai. In the operation, Security Forces recovered 23 IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) foiling a major terrorist attack plan.
It was Jamaat-ul-Ahrar who accepted the responsibility of Lahore Blast on the 13th of this month. Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) claims that the mines were to be used to carry out attacks against Law Enforcement Agencies and to target Lora Lai University Students as well. Timely action by LEAs have averted major terrorist plot, ISPR said in a statement.
Pakistan Army has also conducted strikes across Pak-Afghan Border on Thursday and killed two high profile terrorists who had connections with Jamaat-ul-Ahrar. These terrorists were involved in conducting terrorist activities in Pakistan among which one of them was the mastermind of Lahore Blast and earlier terror incidents as well in Punjab.
It is to be noted that Pakistan Army had launched a country wide Military Operation on Wednesday named as “Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad” in which Security and Counter Terrorism Operations on larger scale would be conducted in the country as well as in Punjab where Rangers have already been given the authority to conduct operation against militants.
According to the Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad aims to eliminate the residual and latent threat of terrorism, consolidate the gains of operations conducted so far and also to ensure the Borders’ Security. The hallmark of this operation is said to be the pursuance of the National Action Plan (NAP).
The decision of launching Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad has come after Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa held a high-level security session in Lahore after a whole week of explosions, blasts and terrorist activities that shook the country. The security session was attended by all Corps Commanders in Punjab Province, DG PR Punjab and Intelligence Officials as well.
Along with Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy, Civil Armed Forces as well as other Security and Law Enforcement Agencies will continue to actively participate and support the efforts of the Pakistan Army to eliminate the menace of terrorism from its roots.
