Pakistan Army has included Chinese made LY-80 Surface-to-Air Missile in its defence system, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). LY-80 is a Mobile Air Defense System which is capable of tracking and destroying variety of Aerial Targets at longer ranges flying at low and medium altitude.
In a statement by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa was the Chief Guest at the ceremony to induct new missile system to Pakistan’s defence logistics held at Army Auditorium. On the occasion, COAS said that LY-80 LOMADS increases our response capability to current and emerging air defence threats.
The missile is able to engage Aerial Targets at high altitude, the mid-range LY-80 has the ability to intercept very low-flying targets at a distance of up to about 40 Kilometers, filling the gap between the HQ-7 Short-Range SAM and the HQ-9 Long-Range SAM Systems.
COAS ensures commitment for CPEC’s Security
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan Army is fully aware of hostile agenda and plots against China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and vowed that Security Forces are fully prepared to defeat their designs. Also He reiterated Pakistan Army’s commitment to ensure security for CPEC and the workforce involved.
He gave the statements during his visit to Headquarters of Special Security Division (SSD), where COAS was given a detailed briefing on Integrated Security Mechanism. The Army Chief emphasized upon the value Pakistan attaches to the Chinese help and assistance extended in making CPEC a success.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa also appreciated SSD for their state of preparedness and arrangements for execution of the assigned mission and tasks. Earlier, on arrival, COAS was received by GOC SSD Major General Abid Rafique whereas Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar was also present on the occasion.
