Champions trophy final: A day full of miracles

By Sajjad Hussain Durrani.

Champions Trophy victory of Pakistan against a cricket giant India is a blessing from Almighty ALLAH. There were many moments when we graciously gave chances to India to get a grip over the match. The first one was the Fakhar’s catch just after the start of the game. The umpire’s call for review and then calling it a no ball was the blessing in disguise. Fakhar cashed this chance so brilliantly and scored a brilliant and fearless century. The opening pair of Pakistan were so poor in the running between the wickets. They provided many chances to Indian team but the throws from the fielders were not on the target until Azhar made a blunder and lost his wicket by his own hands. The opening pair had caused an enough damage to the Indian team by the time the partnership was broken.

When Hafeez arrived at the crease, he encountered an amazing ball from the same Bumrah who bowled a no ball to Fakhar. That was an excellent Yorker to the former captain of Pakistan and the ball knocked the stumps but the stumps remained at their place. To me, that was a huge miracle. Hafeez followed the footsteps of Fakhar after getting a new life, and scored an amazing half century in a fast and furious style. These favours from the ALLAH made team Pakistan able to have a competitive total on the board.

Trouble and stress on the face of Indian skipper were very much clear in the last overs of the Pakistani session. Perhaps he thought to restrict Pakistan within 250 runs or below and this much high score was beyond his expectations. The other factor for his distress was the Pakistani bowling attack. Though Indian batting is considered as one of the best in the world especially in chasing big targets, the current form of our pacers and an Everest alike score kept him pessimistic about chasing.

The second session starts here with Amir bowling first over from Pakistan side. He is the one who was once termed an ordinary bowler by Rohit Sharma and he was facing him in the very beginning over.  An in swinging delivery from him completely deceived Sharma and given LBW out by the umpire. The departure of Sharma on the third ball of Indian inning put a pressure on the batting side. Dhawan and Sharma scored 100 plus partnerships in the previous matches of this tournament but that was a complete disaster for them and their team. Then the man most trusted by the Indian side and who is also commanding their team arrived to get his team out of the crisis. The pressure of Junaid and Amir was keeping him confuse and then he handed over a simple catch to Azhar Ali who was standing at the slip but Azhar dropped it. Dropping a catch of such a classy batsman like Kohli is almost equal to dropping the match from your hands. But hold on, the very next delivery and Kohli is caught out with a brilliant catch by Shadab. This was once another miracle that took place on this day. Pakistan after dropping a chance just one ball ago has sent Indian leader back to pavilion. This was an amazing bowling effort by Amir on such a batting paradise but don’t forget that it was a blessing from Almighty ALLAH.

Half of the chances of the Indian victory in the match were washed out with the dismissal of Kohli. Soon after that Amir again took the wicket of Dhawan and sent back three top batsmen of the Indian side for only 33 runs. This pitch was not at all made for spinners and we had seen it in the Pakistani innings when the bowlers like Ashwin and Jadeja bowled so awkwardly over it. The inclusion of Shadab into the side was criticised by many experts but Sarfaraz took a chance and this young boy got two precious wickets. Hassan Ali kept his tradition of pressurising the batsmen and took three wickets.

The only moments when Pakistan felt uncomfortable were the batting of Pandya who was in great touch but again ALLAH helped us as he ran himself out just the way Azhar Ali did in the Pakistani inning. Pakistan became the champion of the champions and the miracles throughout the day helped us in achieving this target. Allah’s mercy and the favour were very much on the Pakistani side. Yes it is the holy month of Ramadan and we all prayed for our national team but the haughty behaviour of Indians was one another factor which was not liked by Almighty. Indians were flying too high since the start of the tournament.

In their first match, they defeated us and ridicule our players to an infinite level. They were overjoyed on the day we qualified for the final. A majority of them were over confident starting from a common Indian to their celebrities. Pakistani team was just like an infant child for them as it was very clear from their tone. Arrogance and ego always go down the drain and that made me confident that their bad day is coming soon. The team that was thinking of a huge victory fell so hard on the ground and Pakistan defeated them with a margin of 180 runs. This is the biggest margin by which a team lost a final match in any of the ICC tournaments. on the other hand, a team that was striving hard to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy is now the champion.

Almighty ALLAH helps you when you are united, your intentions are positive and you put your trust in him. A team that was considered minor have now become major and we are proud of our country.

LONG LIVE PAKISTAN
