50 years of the People’s Party and Poor People of PAKISTAN!!!

By Sajjad Hussain Durrani.

Pakistan People’s Party completed its 50 years today. The life of today’s leaders of this party has turned into full of luxuries. They have become billionaires but the poor people of this country are still waiting for the fulfillment of their fake promises. They call themselves the only party which represents the labour and poor class but issue majority of the tickets to the landlords for the national assembly and provincial assemblies elections. I have a lot of differences with Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto but still, they were way better than today’s People’s Party.

The condition of Sindh is worst which is their home ground. They are responsible for the Sindhi-Muhajir divide in Sindh province which is one of the differences I have with policies of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. A city known as the city of lights is now one of the most polluted cities in the world. Karachi is no more beautiful but a contaminated city with no planning for the future. The situation of the rural Sindh which always remained their citadel is much deteriorated than the urban areas. Education and health facilities are of extremely low standards as compare to the rest of the country.

The term of peoples party and coalition from the year 2008 to 2013 is reckoned as one of the worst periods of Pakistani history. The economic condition of the country went worst. They doubled the burden of loans in this era. No investor was ready to come to Pakistan. Many Pakistani industrialists moved to the countries like Bangladesh as they were getting life threats and had no hope of good business at home. Extortion, lawlessness, and terrorism were at its peak. The country was pushed into the darkness with no electricity. They started electricity projects for the sake of their own interest which was too costly for the nation that was already passing through the hard and tough times.

Appointment of incompetent persons at the apex posts is one another example of their poor performance. Not only at top posts but they appointed their favourites in all departments and at every scale. The increased the bribery culture in Pakistan and appointed staff more than their quota. The jobs were on sale and this is how the talented people were spoiled. Our country witnessed the highest brain drain during this period. When finding no bright future in Pakistan many of the professionals and talented individuals moved to the foreign countries. Many of them wanted to use their abilities to serve Pakistan but they were forced to leave as there was no hope left for them.

I am not saying that everything is just perfect nowadays but a ray of hope can be seen and people are optimistic about future. PPP spent millions of rupees to probe the death of Benazir Bhutto but after having all the authority and power they are unable to find the murderers. The assassination of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto is used as sympathy and election tactic. The party is shifted from Bhutto family to Zardari family but they are still using Bhutto’s name to get the sympathy of the people. Bilawal Zardari is now called as Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to get the sympathies and votes of the people.

Though they dominate the politics of Sindh they have almost no presence due to their poor performance and bad policies in rest of the country. A party that was once famous all across the country is now securing only a few hundred votes in many of the elections held over the past years except elections in Sindh. The life of its leaders has certainly changed but their poor voters are still looking to get the promised ROTI, KAPRA, and MAKAAN.
