Karan Johar says no to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai sequel

News Desk

Many Bollywood films deserve a sequel – in fact in many films the sequel has turned out to be better
than the first film. You have to look no further than Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 for proof.
But sometimes, the sequel ends up giving us a bad taste in the mouth. Case in point: Phir Hera Pheri and
Lagay Raho Munna Bhai. So when we heard rumours that Karan Johar may be making a sequel of Shah
Rukh Khan – Kajol – Rani Mukherjee starrer 1998 blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, we had mixed
feelings.
Earlier this year, during his radio show Calling Karan Season 2, one of the listeners asked Karan Johar
whether he would consider a remake or sequel.
To this, the film-maker responded, “If I made Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 2, I would cast Ranbir Kapoor, Alia
Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor in it.”
The statement fueled rumors, and we began wondering whether a sequel was in the works.
However, in a recent Twitter exchange, Karan Johar has categorically denied that Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 2
will ever materialize.
Bollywood Hungama posted a tweet announcing that KJo was thinking of remaking KKHH. The filmmaker
was quick to tweet a very emphatic “No,” making it very clear that fans should expect no such things.

Karn Johar is currently working on the pre-production for upcoming historical drama Takht. Set in the
Mughal era, the film is expected to hit floors next year.
The drama film will feature an ensemble cast comprising Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia
Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor.
Vicky Kaushal will be reportedly playing Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, while Ranveer is rumoured to be
playing his brother, and rival for the throne, Dara Shikoh.
