Disney releases nostalgic Lion King Trailer

Be prepared for some major nostalgia with The Lion King’s trailer

The trailer for Disney’s upcoming live-action film The Lion King is out, and it’s nostalgia all the way!

Much has changed since 1994, when the original animated version of The Lion King was released. New animation techniques have been introduced, and cinemas have gotten better, all of which means that there is a world of difference in the film-watching experience for cinema-goers.

What has not changed over the years, however, has been our love for the Disney films of the past – and this is exactly what this trailer has tried to capitalize on.

Much like the original film, the trailer exudes warm fuzziness from start to finish, right from the time that Rafiki the baboon presents the future king cub to the people he will rule in the future people. And yes, it’s still just as adorable as the scene we all loved from our childhood.

Throw in the Hans Zimmer score of the original film, and James Earl Jones’ reprisal of his role as Mufasa, and baby Simba blinking his open, looking just as adorably confused as he was in the previous film, and you know it’s time to reboot your childhood.

The new Lion King’s story was written by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ Jeff Nathanson. It’s directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Jungle Book) and will be released in July 2019.

The original Lion King was one of Disney’s most successful dates to date, having racked up more than $968 million at the box office. It was also highly critically acclaimed, willing multiple Academy Awards as well as a pair of Grammy Awards for its memorable soundtrack.

We really hope that the 2019 film is everything the 1994 film was – and much more.
