On Thursday, PM Imran Khan criticized some members of the National Assembly for being scared of having their names placed on the ECL. In his tweet, he wondered why they are so keen to go abroad.
He asked in another tweet that “Can anyone explain this strange phenomenon to those of us who would be quite happy to remain in and work for Pakistan because we actually love Pakistan.”
The tweet came after the Supreme Court’s decision of removing the names of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, from the ECL.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari responded to PM Imran Khan’s criticism in a tweet of his own.
“Funny it’s only the opposition members on ECL, government members are busy traveling. Including PM who despite promising not to travel for first six months has made more than seven trips so far,” said the PPP chairman.
Last month the federal government decided to place the names of 172 people, including PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, on the ECL.
Last week, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar asked the general prosecutor “why the government had decided to place names of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Chief Minister of Sindh on ECL based on JIT’s recommendation” and ordered the federal cabinet to review its decision.
