Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan Alyani on Sunday took notice of the death of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) member Arman Loni on Saturday evening during the sit-in against suicide attacks in Lora Lai and sought a report from Commissioner Zhob Division.
According to sources Chief Minister Jam Kamal has directed that the report on Loni’s death be submitted to him within 48 hours.
Loni’s family and members of PTM claimed that he was killed in a police crackdown and demanded that the Balochistan government take notice of his death. It is said that his death occurred during a baton charge by police to disperse the protesters.
Earlier on Saturday Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) and PTM had jointly staged a protest in Loralai to express solidarity with armed forces of Pakistan.
An all-party conference (APC) announced a strike in Loralai on Monday. The APC was called by Awami National Party leader Bismillah Khan Loni and held on Sunday. It was attended by leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, PKMAP, Pakistan Peoples Party and other parties.
The APC strongly condemned the murder of the PTM worker and termed it as a cold-blooded murder. It was also decided in the conference that all party leaders will attend the funeral prayers of Arman Loni to be held on Monday.
Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir, the two members of parliament representing PTM, were very vocal about the death of their party worker.
Mohsin said in a tweet that the provincial government had imposed the ban “to stop us from attending the funeral of Arman Loni”.
The Balochistan Bar Council has also condemned the murder of Arman Loni and announced boycott of all court proceedings on Monday as they express solidarity with political parties.
The PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the “brutal killing of Arman Loni in Loralai” and demanded that an “independent and transparent inquiry” be conducted into the incident.
