Islamabad law student allegedly raped and threatened by professor seeks help from CJ

A female law student from the International Islamic University (IIUI) has appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to provide her protection claiming her life is under threat.

In a video which went viral on social media yesterday, the girl who is law student at IIUI has said that Asad Hashmi, a lawyer in Islamabad, allegedly raped her repeatedly at a flat located in sector H-13. This is not the first time Mr. Hashmi has been accused of such a crime. He was also booked last month for sexual assault of a university student.

The girl alleges that an IIUI professor, Javed Hashmi, who is also the uncle of the suspect had threatened her not to pursue the rape case in court or she will face dire consequences. The professor allegedly threatened her against pursing the case and identifying his nephew as the perpetrator.

According to the victim, she went to meet the lawyer at his residence to discuss a case where he repeatedly raped her. The hearing of the case will take place on Monday in Islamabad sessions court.

The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Hamza Shafqat took notice of the video and ordered an inquiry into the matter.

He said in a tweet that the authorities had already taken notice of the matter and the Assistant Commissioner of Islamabad Bushra Rao was in contact with the victim. The First Information Report (FIR) had also been launched against the lawyer on her request.
