The new teaser of the upcoming live action remake of Disney’s Aladdin has given us a first look of Will Smith as the Genie.
This is the second teaser of the film which will be released in May this year. Aladdin is the second of three Disney remakes in theatres this year, with the eagerly awaited remake of The Lion King also coming out this year.
The previous teaser showed us the landscape of the Kingdom of Agrabah and ended with Aladdin reaching for the lamp.
In the new minute long trailer we get to see more of the characters in action. An elephant is shown parading down the street making way for Prince Anders while a glimpse of Princess Jasmine walking with a tiger behind her is also seen in the teaser.
The key moment of the trailer sees Jafar send Aladdin into the cave, asking him to bring him the lamp and Aladdin ventures into the cave. His little friend Abu the monkey also makes an appearance perched atop his shoulder and yes the one and only Genie makes an appearance in the end in trademark Will Smith fashion in a style which will no doubt draw a lot of criticism.
Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich.
The film stars Will Smith as genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as scheming Vizier Jafar, Nasim Perdad as Dalia Jasmine’s loyal handmaiden and Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders, one of Jasmine’s suitor.
Aladdin will be released on May 24th 2019.
