In the midst of the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, many Indian celebrities have taken to social media to express their views on the matter.
Amidst the tweets from Indian celebrities, which seem to be against Pakistan, and in the favor of the rising tensions between the two countries, Sonam Kapoor shared a Facebook post on her Instagram handle. The post reads:
Now, though, the Bollywood actress has come under fire for promoting ‘anti-Hindu’ sentiments. However, she wanted to highlight the effects of fundamentalists and the common ground between the Indians and Pakistanis.
Bollywood star, Ranveer Singh, tweeted “Jai Hind” after the Indian Air Force (IAF) dropped a payload in Balakot, allegedly killing 300 Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants.
Singh also tweeted, “Brave Wing Commander Abhinandan. India is with you.”
After the same incident on Tuesday, Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, also tweeted, “Mess with the best, die like the rest.” Ironically, a day after this tweet, two Indian fighter jets were shot down by the Pakistan Air Force.
Actress Priyanka Chopra also weighed in on the situation when he she tweeted, “Jai Hind”. This is especially shocking, as Priyanka is a UN Goodwill Ambassador and her tweet supports war over peace.
In a shocking turn of events, Adnan Sami, a former Pakistani citizen, tweeted in favor of the Indian Air Force, saying “The Force Is With You.’’ Ironically, Sami’s father was in the Pakistan Air Force and fought against the Indians in the 1965 war.
Pakistani celebrities have also expressed their views on social media regarding the current events.
Shaan expressed his views in a series of tweets, in which he has supported Pakistan’s actions to defend itself, and warned India against taking action to ensure peace and end conflict. He tweeted:
On the other hand, some Pakistani celebrities took it too far. While Shaan supported Pakistan and warned India, actor Hamza Ali Abbasi went in the other direction by sharing the picture of the captured IAF commander Abhinandan’s family, and directing the tweet at his son.
Other Pakistani celebrities like Mahira Khan and Fatima Bhutto have tweeted against the warmongering hysteria of many people on twitter.
